Summer picnic

Our 2011 summer picnic took place on Saturday 3 September from 2pm until 5pm in the enclosed area behind the Sexby Gardens in Peckham Rye Park. The Arboretum is a lovely enclosed dog free shady spot with picnic tables.

The picnic was held on a lovely summery September day, and we kept the children (and they kept us!) very busy during the afternoon. A face painter, Karen, from Raingold Faces (www.raingoldfaces.com) did a wonderful job throughout the afternoon with a multitude of stunning designs. Many of the children also made colourful kites with Jo’s fantastic craft activity, and they proved very effective at flying, much to the delight of the children. A musical activity took place under the welcome shade of a gazebo and towards the end of the day the children took to their scooters, bikes and sometimes just two feet for a couple of wacky races around the Arboretum under the scrutiny of a race controller with a chequered flag and completed with the awarding of prizes to all contestants.a
